Help! It’s going to eat me!

Today was bath day.

Bathing was the usual horror story of capture, hold, dunk, scrub and dry. An Olympic-level event with this little dog

That alone guaranteed an unhappy Mauzer. But things got worse for her.

Post-bath and wearing a fresh collar and leash, Reiko was sulking around the living room no doubt formulating revenge when the floor cleaning robot accidentally vacuumed her leash end.

Remember that Reiko’s absolute #1 terror trigger is any form of restraint.

As soon as she realized the robot had a grip on her leash, she panicked and darted off at high speed.

The robot was truly entangled and would not let go. Instead it looked like a slapstick routine of a dog being chased by a UFO.

I wanted to get my camera and record this hilarity but I was a good DogDad and rushed to free the frightened pooch.

So now my floors are clean but my dog looks at me as though I am evil incarnate because, of course, it’s my fault.

Poor Reiko! But at least she’s all clean and fluffy! It’s all your fault of course 😆

It’s easy to take the dog’s side when it’s not you emerging from the bathroom totally soaked, scratched and the object of canine hatred.

Poor little Reiko! Oh course it is your fault, DogDad. You are supposed to protect her from UFO’s.

Oh sure…the innocent little puppy. Who cares about the Roomba’s feelings? Huh? Huh?

        Not me!!!😆

AS THOUGH you are evil?!! Snorf.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’m starting to sense a distinct lack of sympathy here.

Geordie managed to get the cord of my iron wrapped around his neck when he a puppy. It is surprisingly difficult to catch a frightened dog when they think the devil himself is after them.

Glad to hear Bath Day is a weekly tradition! (Well, at least for Reiko.)

Not weekly. This is only the 2nd bath. It’s such a production and we both exit the experience hoping the other one just gets out of our face for awhile. But White Dog Problems require the occasional full body dunk & scrub. And yes indeedy, a panicked pup is a real chase, even when anchored by a room robot. The best was the leap on to the chair which left the robot dangling over the edge. It was funny to watch. Pitiful, but funny.

Of course it’s all your fault. You brought the scary killer floor cleaning robot into the house, BOL! Hoping real hard Reiko doesn’t associate this experience with baths. (Did the robot survive?)

She doesn’t need any more triggers to loath the bath experience. The capture part is the worst because of her fear of touch and restraint. Once in the tub, she seems to like the warm water and the soft scrub. I can wash her all over and even clean her face a bit without any nips. But reaching to remove her from the tub triggers the terrors again. I wish they had a push through dog wash like the kind for cars only smaller. Put the dog at the front end, push and it comes out the back sparkling, blow dried, and ready to head off on new adventures.

Now I’ve got that image in my head…I think you should do an AI on that!!

The robot is none the worse for the experience.

Good to hear. Wonder if you could train it to catch Reiko, put her in the tub and take her back out???

Poor baby. Yeah, those automated vacuums are definitely a death threat to all four-legged creatures. Hopefully you can find some tasty high value treats to help forget that experience.

I did find some tasty treats. A nice Meritage and small charcuterie board. Delish and it’s taken the edge off. Oh wait…did you mean for the dog? Fuggetaboutit.

😮 Aw, poor Reiko! 🙁 And poor you, Doggy-Daddy! 🙁 That had to be scary for both of you!
I hope you both imbibed in some drink and enjoyed some treats afterwards…to settle the nerves.
    (((HUGS))) ❤️❤️❤️
PS…Did Reiko let you and The Robot live through the night??? 😉
PPS…At least a 2nd Poopocalypse didn’t happen whilst Reiko was being chased by the Robot. Whew! 😌

It wasn’t scary to me at all. I thought it was hilarious. The robot never posed a threat unless Reiko ran into a wall while fleeing. She and the robot have a funny relationship. She’s not scared of it at all provided she sees it coming. She’ll walk right up to it and scoot by. But, being deaf, the robot will occasionally sneak up from the rear and then it’s a whole different story. The jump scare action alone is funny.

        That’s good.
I know I am concerned (probably too much) about how things affect our pets emotionally and mentally. I hated it when Cooper was scared. I wanted him to be healthy and happy physically, emotionally, mentally, etc. But, again, I was probably overly concerned.

Poor litle girl…..I hope she had more than her fair share of your charcuterie board….

Love to hear from ya
