Dog Nirvana

Yes, this IS the lifestyle I deserve.

Jonelle Patrick is a very talented novelist and humorist who lives in Japan and produces a blog called “Only in Japan” which is one of the blogs I consider a must read. Always guaranteed to amuse and confuse.

Her latest story takes a peek at Doggy’s Island Resort and Villas, a super luxe sanctuary for pooches and their owners in Chiba Prefecture, just 55 minutes from Tokyo.

It offers every conceivable amenity for your beloved canine from bakeries, to waterfalls, to elegant suites and even a group of 5 Labs & Goldens who serve as Ambassadors.

The room rates range from $105 – $300 per night.

      I know, right? Can you picture Mr. Chester at the resort? All the options for dog fun. All the goodies in the restaurants. Nap, eat, play….repeat and repeat.

      It really is! That is some level of commitment from the owners and investors. Can you imagine the pitch deck on funding that project? “OK, so over here we envision a dog waterfall.” “Say what?”

      I can’t imagine any dog not liking the place where it can go into spas and restaurants and dive in waterfalls or just lay around the dog pool with snacks.

          Funny, because I just finished another bath episode. But this one was actually quite good. I think she like the actual bath part – the warm water, scrub and scratch. It’s the preamble that’s stressful but I figured another way to trap her with less trauma so…good day!

            At least she enjoys part of the bath experience. Nox hated all of it, but would come when called, mostly. Sometimes she didn’t “hear” me. Or she would see me start to get her bath ready and she would scarper off before I could bath her. I did find she liked getting a shower better than a bath. She would look at me like I was being mean for no reason.

              It really does vary by dog. Max was indifferent. He didn’t like baths but would not avoid them. Once many years ago I had a Golden and she would literally dive into the tub if it had water in it.

                Bruce’s parents had a retriever that would walk by the pool and “accidentally” fall in. Then it was “oops, well I’m in the pool, I should enjoy it!” She knew she wasn’t allowed in the pool, but the water called to her! 😆
