Reiko does not like when I leave her alone to go to the gym or shopping. I have to be vary careful not to leave anything fragile anywhere that she can access with those springy little Mauzer legs.
This morning, I foolishly left my reading glasses on my computer desk. While the desk itself is a bit out of her reach, Reiko is crafty and used the nearby chair to get up and destroy the glasses.
Purely an act of spite and vengeance for my temerity in leaving her behind.

Such a clever girl……one of ours, when a puppy, did likewise – more new toy to play with than revenge, perhaps?
Good question. I can’t decipher her motives. It could be revenge; that was my initial thought. But maybe it was the opposite – longing for her buddy whom she ignores when at home. Or maybe just the novelty of a new toy appealed to her as you suggest.
Your reading classes smell like you. Weird, but true. I do think she misses you, but revenge, nah.
Oh, there’s plenty of stuff around here that smells like me. Not that that’s a good thing. But she has never assaulted my slippers or the pair of socks that may, or may not, have been picked up immediately.

Great. Now a cat person has taken on the role of cheerleader for a vengeful dog. I’m such a lucky guy. It keeps getting better and better.
Our dentist warned us to make sure and keep our mouth guards out of reach of our dogs. He said the number one reason mouth guards are destroyed is dogs chewing them up. I have never had a dog destroy glasses before and never expected it!
Nox once used a chair to get onto the dining room table and make off with a stick of butter. I feel your pain of having to deal with those springy terrier legs!
I was surprised at her choice of reading glasses because I wouldn’t think they retain a strong smell compared to slippers or clothing or other personal items. I can report however that I moved my inventory of adult spirits to much higher ground. The chance of the dog nipping the cognac is low, but it’s never zero, don’cha know.
It would be interesting to come home to a drunk dog after nipping cognac.๐พ๐ฅ

Seriously…I’m sure she misses you when you are away. And she just wanted to remind you of that.
Besides…the Hallmark missing-you card was too expensive on Amazon…so you got a missing-you-readjustment-of-your-glasses instead. ๐

Everybody seems to be taking Reiko’s side on this matter. OK, I can tell when I’ve lost the high ground. ๐ Funny thing is the loss is not even an inconvenience. I am hard on reading glasses. I always am losing them, sitting on them, ripping off an arm or something. So much so I just buy a 6 pack on Amazon (I don’t need anything fancy) and when I’ve destroyed those, I order another 6 pack. So Miss Reiko will get a free pass on this one.
Oh, I am EXACTLY the same way, in every way, with my reading glasses! I get mine from Amazon, too. I keep a pair in my purse, a pair in my office, a pair in the kitchen, etc. Ha! ๐

Dogs don’t feel spite She was simply bored and it was totally your fault for leaving the glasses where she could get them. Also, they smell like you so she was just trying to show you affection.
