Usurping the Recliner of Sloth

I’ve mentioned several times that Reiko doesn’t yet recognize her name. Then I realized that one reason for that is I repeatedly refer to her as “Max.”

Do you guys do that? Do you keep calling your dog or cat by the name of its predecessor? How about your spouse – do you call him/her/I’m not judging by another name from time to time?

I’ve got to shape up or this poor little dog will never know her name.

I frequently call chester my grandkids names and vice versa. Luckily they think it’s funny. Silly grandma😆

And then after calling her Max, I apologize. I don’t think she recognizes the apology either.

I used to call my kids the cats’ names. They didn’t have to get so snarky about it–it was an honest mistake.

I got called “Max” a few times back in the day but it never bothered me. Just something to laugh about. Most Tolerant Daughter disagrees and gets huffy.

    Yes.
Oh, yeah. Been there, done that!
No, not really. Not the hubby. But I’ve called our kids and grandkids “Cooper”. Oopy! 😉 😁
Growing up, as one of 8 kids, my Dad often called us by the wrong name. I should’ve made up T-shirts for each kid with our name boldly imprinted on both sides, front AND back. 😉 😛
    Great blogpost, Max!
    Er…I meant Reiko.
    ER…no, it’s Tom.
    Right?! Tom!!!
    HA! I crack myself up! 😀 🤣

No. Not once. Inappropriate language – yes, but never the wrong name.
No wonder she is a litle puzzled.

I’m surprised. So many pups and knowing your memory issues…

My dad would see one of us and just run all of our names together. 😆 Bruce called our daughter by the dog’s name. She was not amused.

Seems like daughters are more sensitive to being called dogs. I wonder why? Hmmm.

Maverick – shortened to “Mav” – is way too close to “Max” So yeah, I call him that a lot. I also call him JesusDog and DammitDog and DearGodYou’reTryingToKillMe and TInyTerror and a myriad of other names and then I wonder why he doesn’t answer to his real name?

      This I can relate to.

My son (aged 30) regularly reminds me how I called him the dogs name, more than once when he was growing up.
